Found two clinics (see clinics) using this in their regimes. So far I have not found anything negative about this product which farmers call ironically the "cancer of weeds" because they can't kill it. The articles noted above seem to show the best results of most alternative products or regimes with alternative products. I did find that Vascustatin is a pill supplement bindweed formula you can purchase it here, or here or at other online sites. Some clinics said they are also using Imm-Kine formula but I didn't see bindweed as an ingredient in that. Regardless it can be purchased here or at other online sites. 10/13/04 |
» Anbol by Lonjer - About | Study |
þ |
 |
About: Anbol is composed of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide, chinese angelica polysaccharides, oleanolic acid, all of which are distilled from a Chinese national herb according to their scientific methods. One of their "science experiments" showed that Anbol had the same safety as food. Not much else is known, because the only info available is from their site.
Various Brands/Types: Only could find it for sale on Lonjer's site, but the herb may be in other products. As per their site it costs from Lonjer $209 for a 30 day course or 3 bottles (90 tables * 3 bottles).
Studies: An interesting study is one the Lonjer site shows here about Pancreatic cancer and Anbol use where it notes it can kill cancer cells, inhibit growth and metastatis of tumor cells, and if used with chemo/rad increase sensitivity and reduce the toxic side effects. Hard to tell if this study is real or not though, but claims high success of remission in control group.
Comments: This is entirely based in China, so the question of the studies and claims are hard to challenge let alone confirm. The english translation of the web site is not too good either. I did not find anything on Quackwatch or anything negative about this, but then again all of the info available was only on their site. No one else really mentions anything about it. Because of that it is a bit of an unknown. » 10/27/04

About: Need to research
Various Brands/Types: Need to research
Studies: Need to research
Comments: This input graciously provided by Ron Jensen, but more to come too: "Dr Stuart Titus spent a couple of days at my house in the last two weeks. He has his PHD in physiotherapy, accupuncture and some other things. He had a bad back which prevented him from continuing his pursuit of professional golf when he was younger. A few years later some of his buddies on the tour told him about mircro current therapy for injuries which was restoring golfers to the tour, including Jack Nicklaus. It also restored Dr Titus's back, so he pursued his interest in microcurrent technology. He then developed his own equipment and system. He is now treating all the cancer patients and training all the staff at the Hope 4 Cancer Insitute. I asked him how it was going and he said that in combination with all the other therapies at the clinic they were getting a 70% reduction in tumor size in 3 weeks. It is early in this investigation, but it does make sense. There are a couple of things cancer does not like: oxygen, and normal electrical potential across the cell membrane. The normal potential is 70-150 microvolts. The cancer cells and cancer prone cells have only a fraction of that potential.
Dr Rife, in the 1930's also discovered that cancer cells and other pathogens were sensitive to specific vibrational frequencies and he made charts of what those frequencies are. His charts are still used today. He was being successful with his therapies until the AMA and the FDA shut him down and the treatment is still outlawed today. Rife's technology has and is still curing cancer patients, but is illegal in this country. I have heard that our country has given Mexico 100-200 Million dollars and now our FDA is trying to force the Mexican clinics to stop using the Rife machines and ozone therapy.
The V Immune products from Thailand are meeting the same fate. Their government was given money and now the products may be prevented from coming into this country." From John - need to research. » 10/27/04

B17 -

Cons |
þ |
 |
B17 is not accepted in medical circles but a lot of talk about it out there. The key is that a number of people are discussing it as having helped reduce their tumor sizes. It is difficult to refute that, but the evidence is not supported by medical trials of course. B17 as noted in the articles above can also be found in numerous other foods. B17 though is not technically recognized as a vitamin either. The dosage or amount is something that should be discussed with a doctor as well due to Laetrile being poisonous in higher doses. From the articles it appears that it would be extremely difficult to reach those doses.
The question to consider is whether it is worth the time to take B17-rich foods or dried Apricot seeds while doing other things too. It seems it can't hurt, but the con article above seems to think it is a waste of time. Tough call, but most likely time will tell on this as well. |

Small Intestine Cleansing Supplement: So far cleansing the small intestine appears to be important as noted here with Okra-Pepsin.
Apparently the articles discusses the

the Pancreas also be able to fight
cancer cells. My research is limited to

Believed to raise oxygen levels and kills microorganisms. As per the UCSD article above there is no scientific evidence that treatment with ozone is either safe or results in any objective benefit in the treatment of human cancer. In addition, researcher now understand that the low oxygen environment surrounding tumor cells is due to the fact tissues surrounding the cancerous masses have fewer blood vessels and, therefore, receive less oxygen. |

» Fucoidan/U-Fucoidan - About |
Jþ |
 |
About: From the reading it appears that it may have anti-tumor properties (see studies) and causes certain types of rapidly growing cancer cells to self-destruct which is called apoptosis. Fucoidan is found in many types of brown seaweed such as Wakame, Hijiki, Kombu, and Mozuku so the products out there are going to be from these different sources. It is noted as a strong antioxidant and as having immunomodulating activity.
Various Brands/Types: 1) The brand mentioned by the Japanese friend of Connie's is the product Umi no Shizuku (link translates from Japanese to English) or K-fucoidan made by Kamerycah, Inc. $330/120 caps. Their product is from Okinawa. I think there are a number of products that are good options as noted next. 2) U-Fucoidan is from the kombu (Laminaria japonica) brown seaweed, and from Okinawa, Japan where it is a mainstay of the traditional Japanese diet and where they have the lowest death rate from cancer in Japan. This can be bought from Bodyworx $98/60 caps (from Okinawa, Japan and claims researched results of 72 hours), or Naturodoc. Naturodoc claims results can be seen in 3-5 weeks. $95/60 caps (dosage 2/day). 3) Apoidan-U by Takara Bio is a bio-health drink liquid extract from kombu and other ingredients. Click here for a thorough Fucoidan article on their site. 4) Modifilan is very similar to U-Fucoidan from what I can tell, but they note it is higher quality because of the temperature they process it at which does not exceed 176 deg F. They claim this helps it retain its micro-elements. They also claim it is harvested in the northern Pacific ocean. Get it here for $29/90 caps (dosage 8-10 day) or at Naturdoc for $26.95/90 caps. 5) Moro-Sara has fucoidan (Fucus vesiculosus species) and anthocyanins (anti-oxident). No refrigeration needed, and claims concentrated tincture is most highly absorbable form of supplement. $42.50/bottle (dosage 1 tspn/day)6) Limu Moui bottled liquid with fucoidan from the "the limu" company. I think this may have been the original maker, but be careful as I read a few negative things on Limu Moui about its claims for other diseases here. Only bought from them at $42/bottle as a non-member. Claim their extraction process is proprietary, but don't mention more than that. Includes papaya and mango extracts. Taken just off the Islands of Tonga. 7) LCR Fucoidan supplement made from Kombu seaweed. Site has a good list of what some of the many studies have found. They also claim they process it not above 176 degrees F. $26.95/90 caps
Studies: There are hundreds of studies just on Pubmed.com alone. Of the 45+ cancer related studies there are a number that talked of anti-tumor characteristics. Here are some studies and articles: Study 1 | Study 2 | Study 3 | Study 4 | Study 5. The last study specifically states that "Studies from the Harvard School of Public Health show that eating kelp as about 5% of your diet inhibits cancer growth and even causes remission of active tumors. Sea greens contain powerful antioxidant and anti-cancer properties, working to stop the proliferation of cancer cells." I did not see a link to validate that study, so hard to know the truth. Sounds like a very serious claim anyway.
Comments: I did not find anything on this about Pancreatic cancer survivors, nor did I find any studies that talked about its ability to cure cancer. That said I did not find really any specific negative issues with it just about the marketers of it sometimes. This product is widely available and appears from some of the many studies to help you in many ways. Bottom line is that I can't see it hurting, but best to confirm with your nutritionist first. » 10/27/04 |

This recommendation was forwarded to me from Keri Phebus.
Diet Plan and Creator: Created by Rev. George Malkmus who studied under many people after getting sick with many things including colon cancer. One was with a Gerson diet promoter (Charlotte Gerson) and Contreras family with Oasis of Hope Hospital. Promotes a biblically based diet concept, but it appears they are vegetarian. Not positive. Seems to focus on juicing more than anything and there are concerns about this over an extended period. Quackwatch claims their claim is hard to validate that people lived shorter lives starting when meat was introduced. This diet though is pretty bold in claiming its ability to help diseases. So many don't make that claim. It appears they are linked to the Issels if they are linked to Contreras too. It also recommends BarleyMax but this is not proven either.
Costs: I didn't notice anything on the site, but Quackwatch claims the supplements are $2k approximately.
Results/Benefits: Can you review people claims or testimonials on the site. It is of course hard to confirm the validity of these or any online claims as usual. They claim a million people have tried the diet too.
Comments: There are a few negatives around the net about this diet: #1 | #2. The Quackwatch article at #1 does not believe Rev. George Malkmus is trustworthy, but read the article for all the reasons. Mainly they as usual believe there isn't proof related to the claims of the diet's ability to cure his claimed cancer and others. » 10/26/04 |

þ |
 |
About: From the Gerson Institute web site - "The Gerson Therapy is a powerful, natural treatment that boosts your body's own immune system to heal cancer, arthritis, heart disease, allergies, and many other degenerative diseases. One aspect of the Gerson Therapy that sets it apart from most other treatment methods is its all-encompassing nature. An abundance of nutrients from thirteen fresh, organic juices are consumed every day, providing your body with a superdose of enzymes, minerals and nutrients. These substances then break down diseased tissue in the body, while enemas aid in eliminating the lifelong buildup of toxins from the liver." Also appears to be administered in a number of Mexican clinics as noted here. This same site also notes: "Using diet (fresh, raw juices consumed continuously for 13 hours a day ), enemas (including coffee enemas) and other therapies, the Gerson Therapy clinics claim to detoxify the body and restore its natural cancer-fighting abilities."
Results: According to the National Cancer Institute, Dr. Gerson's methods were reviewed and no convincing evidence of effectiveness against cancer was found. No other independent studies have found that Gerson Therapy is effective against cancer. Until 1989, the dietary regimen included raw calf liver juice, and the use of this juice was associated with several infections due to contamination. Coffee enemas have also been associated with serious side effects such as fluid and electrolyte abnormalities.
Comments:It appears that the extreme nature of detoxification and dietary regime is going to bring and has brought a number of organizations to question it. There aren't credible sources so far or trials done to validate the claims that are made. Need to be very cautious with this if pursued. » 11/11/04 |

Methods Used: Non-toxic Cancer Vaccines,
protein serum injections, dedratic
vaccines, and Imm-Kine bindweed
(supplement) - see
above. They take blood samples every
morning during the 8 week treatment. All
non-toxic agents.
Time of Treatments: 8 weeks to start out in Bahamas, then return 16
weeks later, and then 6 months after that.
Facilities/History: In Bahamas but have US representatives. Been
around for 28 years.
Costs: Their costs noted
here on
their site run into the multiple thousands for the whole treatment. You would
live in an apartment while there.
Results: Haven't treated a lot of Pancreatic patients but it goes in
cycles they claim. Caroline Jordan from NC at 910-488-0369 is a survivor that
used this clinic with Pancreatic cancer stage IV. Left message with her. They
also claimed a reference to a current 13 year pancreatic cancer survivor too. Go here for a transcript of a TV news interview of some of their patients.
Comments: So far the review looks good, but the cost is pretty high and the stay is long. One doctor recently allowed a patient to check it out for 2 weeks first. FYI - you can talk to Richard Lewis at
clinic first at # above 9am-12am CT as I did to get
this info too. Methods Used:
Richard mentioned initially the
Vitamin-C regime intravenously, but did
note they most likely would give
bindweed (Imm-Kine and C-Statin)
too all after first identifying the
underlying causes of the cancer as he
says. All non-toxic natural methods.
Time of Treatments: First appointment is 3 days and then there some
follow-up appointments you have to go there for.
Facilities/History: In
Wichita, KS but you are only there 3
days and then a few follow on
appointments. Been in area for 20 years
approx. and they too claim they started
first using Bindweed from the area.
Costs: All costs (approx $3k+- at clinic) are noted here, but much lower than ITL
of course. I am sure the take home items would be separate costs.
Results: See pancreatic
case for at least one they note from their web site as having good results.
Richard didn't mention specific numbers of survivors or types of cancers, but he
felt very confident in their doctor's abilities through treatment to extend patient's life's by years instead of
months and referenced a few examples of patients living a number of years beyond their expectations.
Comments: If you don't want to
first talk to Richard Lewis there, then
the first step is to get their eval for
$499 to have them determine what your
treatment would be. This includes a 7
day at-home food intake review too. I
believe that ITL and Issels are more comprehensive
in what they use, but it seems that the
evaluation portion of this might prove
interesting to see if there are other
recommended areas to focus on. My
thought though is that Vitamin C heavy
doses and Bindweed can be taken at home,
so the reason for going to the clinic
for those is not really clear. I am sure there is a bit more that needs to be done overall at the clinic.» updated 11/11/2004 |

Their Patient Group site is located here.
Methods Used: Dr. Burzynski is using antineoplastons discussed here to treat cancer, HIV infection, and autoimmune diseases in 74 Phase II clinical trials one noted here for Stage IV pancreatic patients. I am not aware of other treatments used, but he does not use chemo. He claims antineoplastons continue working and reprogram cancer cells. Minimal nutritional counseling is offered as part of care first evaluating typical day's food intake for a patient. Other treatments used are an oral gel (see article being mailed to you), A10 and more.
Time of Treatments: Come to Houston for consultation and eval by Dr. Burzynski. Initial treatment in Houston 1-3 weeks on an outpatient basis and continue therapy at home. Follow-up visits are about once every 2-3 months and last about 1-2 days. Source.
Facilities/History: Dr. Burzynski has been treating cancer patients for 25 years. The trials have been going on for about 6 years.
Costs: $300 for medical record eval. $435 for consultation fee. $7-14K deposit for initial treatment and then approx. $4k/mth deposits for support and treatments done at home.
Results: Could not mention results of trials and didn't have list of patients names they could give out, but did state they have treated numerous pancreatic cancer patients. They mentioned they would provide more results related info at the consultation. Their site has some patient info here and here. This book "The Alternative Cnacer Therapy Book" references the Burzynski therapy as well. See books below for one that references his work.
Comments: So far the information found looks like this is a comprehensive treatment plan with years of experience in this arena. They recommended a book found here about Dr. Burzynski and the antineoplaston treatment. That site also shows some patients of his that had reviewed the book and shown good results. Pam Bartlet had this to say about this clinic: "My knowledge of the Burzynski clinic in Texas is that it uses a
non-toxic treatment of antineoplastins but it's focus is on brain cancer.
They have gotten great results but have encountered a lot of legal
harrassment from the FDA (not lawsuits) and at one point (maybe
currently) you had to establish Texas residency to get around the red
tape."» 10/15/2004

Time of Treatments: First appointment is 3 days and then there are some follow-up appointments you have to go to.
Facilities/History: In New York, NY where they keep you for 3 days and expect you to come to for follow-up appointments and learn the regime. They claimed they have been at the trials for 10 years.
Costs: All costs (approx $2800 for 3day and then $700/mth and appt fees) are noted here.
of course. I am sure the take home items would be separate costs.
Results: The person I talked to would not mention the results of any trials, the results of any patients or give me any one to talk to about results. The only results related information I found was from a reference to Dr. William Donald Kelley saying he is a 33 year metastatic Pancreatic cancer survivor and apparently used Dr. Gonazalez's methods. Kelley's book here is the source of that.
Comments: The key to theirs are the enzymes which appear to be the main aspect of their current trials. Update in comments...need to research this in more detail still, but didn't find pancreatic cancer patients specifically on their site. They have been presented on the public television show 'American Medical Review' in a positive light with testimonials.
Methods Used: See here for all the treatments they use. One specific treatment they pointed out as having good results from Careseng.
Time of Treatments: Unknown - but it is local to you.
Facilities/History: Unknown
Costs: Consultation is done first at $150 on the phone or $300 in person. The fees beyond this I will research if you want. The site says you are billed in 1 week increments including supplements, intravenous medications and all prescription medications, basic therapies, dietary services, counseling and numerous other therapies.
Results: Patient testimonials were not all cancer, but the one that was didn't claim what cancer. It appears she has been successful from the testimonials in extending their lives.
Comments: Appears positive so far, but hard to tell how effective this particular group is on cancer patients let alone Pancreatic patients. Update...I was able to talk to one of their doctors today and they did say they have treated Pancreatic patients, but don' t keep track or follow them for statistics. They feel they have selected their therapies and treatments with thorough research. The language barrier was difficult with the Indian doctor, but I didn't come away feeling confident this was worth pursuing. They refer to their method in general as Holistic Comprehensive Immunotherapy, The Issels Treatment.
Methods Used: A good overview of their treatments are noted here. I noticed laetril on their list from the Contreras Center and many other vaccines, and methods to jump start the immune mechanisms. It does look extremely comprehensive and thorough having helped thousands of patients in various diseases including cancer. They also at the center manage the diet while you are there. They are aware of Bindweed but don't use it for no apparent reason.
Time of Treatments: See "Costs" below.
Facilities/History: Issels treatment center is located in the Oasis Hospital that is in Tijuana, Mexico and has been around for 40 years along with Contreras Center.
Costs: It appears the initial evaluation with your records and info sent to them is free of charge. 4 weeks inpatient is $24k plus $12.5k for vaccines + 6 month home supply for a total of $36,500. Home therapy after main therapy is 3 months and then there are follow-up appointments recommended all for about $3k.
Results: Their own statistical analysis study of Issels treatment compared to conventional only is shown here. I didn't see any testimonials or cases listed on the site specifically about Pancreatic patients, but the reviews are about Metastatic cancer. Mrs. Issel today though mentioned a number of Pancreatic patients that survived many years and cited one living 5 years and still teaching in New York today. See books below for one that references his work.
Comments: I already requested information to be sent to you in order to learn more, and talked to Mrs. Issel today the wife of the late Dr. Issel. She sounded positive on the program and has been with it for the whole 40 years. The successes appear there, but if you want it might be best to confirm some of them directly via Mrs. Issel. She provided her fax 619-690-8426 for the Pathology Report, Latest Scan and Blood exam to send. The cons so far are typical where the issues are whether or not it has been properly tested or proven. Apparently the con article notes that Quackwatch will be putting an article up about this group. To me it seems again it would be interesting to get their initial free feedback on treatment recommendations. » 10/15/04 |

Added by a recommendation from Joan Clausen. Mailer from them to you is on the way.
Methods Used: Read here. I have not researched this thoroughly yet, but I can tell this is a comprehensive clinic for cancer care based on it focusing on diet, supplements, therapy, physical and experimental.
Time of Treatments: Unknown - need to research.
Facilities/History: Unknown - need to research.
Costs: Unknown - need to research.
Results: Only saw a message board on their site referring to some survivors. Have not researched for Pancreatic specific ones though.
Comments: Need to research this, but although it appears very comprehensive my first guess is that there aren't Pancreatic successes easily available. » 10/19/04 |

» Cancer: Curing the Incurable without Surgery, Chemo or Rad |

 |
Author and Publish Year: Dr. William Donald Kelley, 2000.
About: Dr. Kelley, a metabolic researcher and thirty-plus year survivor of metastatic pancreatic cancer (usually given a prognosis of 3-6 months), certainly caught my attention! He claims that malignancy is never normal (somatic) tissue gone into wild proliferation, but a normal primary germ cell growing normally in the wrong place. Kelley speaks of cure, not remission, and says at least 97% of all cancer conditions could be adequately treated and/or prevented by diet and pancreatic enzymes. Included are dietary guidelines, detailed instructions for coffee enemas, and testimonials.
Comments: Dr. Kelley apparently is linked into Dr. Gonzalez's method noted on this page. Need to research. » 10/19/04 |
» Options: The Alternative Cancer Therapy Book |
 |
 |
Author and Publish Year: Richard Walters, 1993.
About: From book - When my son-in-law handed me this book, it marked the beginning of an exploration of a whole new realm of possibilities for me. Before the discovery of liver metastases in the Fall of 2000, I had never heard of alternative medicine! I knew there had to be something better than what the conventional route had to offer. I have never regretted the choices I have made, and I have never worked so hard in my life! Mine is a story of successful recovery. Richard Walters is a medical and health writer. His book
covers Chinese medicine, herbal therapies, shark cartilage, Gerson therapy, metabolics, Hoxey therapy, Ayurvedic medicine, mind-body healing, Nieper therapies, Macrobiotics, Issels’ therapy, vitamin/mineral supplements, Essiac, Kelley Therapy, Carnivora, Moerman Diet, Burton Therapy, Bio- electric medicine, Burzynski therapy, and much more.
Comments: Appears to be a very useful overview of alternative treatments and therapies. The reviews on Amazon are helpful of course with one stating that since the internet was not around at time of publishing this in 1993 Bill Henderson recommended his book 'Cure Your Cancer' lists 137 useful web sites. » 10/19/04

A guide to the wide range of safe, nontoxic, and effective alternative treatments for cancer. Comments: Reviews are all glowing and seems to be a very comprehensive guide to what to do next from an alternative perspective. » 10/19/04

» The Burzynski Breakthrough |
 |
 |
Author and Publish Year: Thomas Elias, August 15th, 2000.
About: From book - There is hope in the fight against cancer, and for thousands of devoted cancer survivors, that hope goes by the name of a Houston, Texas, doctor named Stanislaw Burzynski. This book presents the astonishing story of Dr. Burzynski's revolutionary discovery of antineoplastons, the century's most promising cancer treatment--and the government's decade-long effort to suppress information about it.
Comments: This book was mentioned to me by the Burzynski clinic but appears to be a number of accounts of Burzynski clinic patients that in the review appear accurate and about Burzynski's fight against the FDA. » 10/19/04

» The Cancer Prevention Diet - Macrobiotic blueprint |
 |
 |
Passed along by Jill Young.
Author(s) and Publish Year: Michio Kushi, and Alex Jack 1994.
About: Michio Kushi's macrobiotic blueprint for the prevention and relief of disease. Revised and updated with the latest research, new recipes, and practical suggestions for relieving 25 types of cancer. Drawing on the most up-to-date cancer and heart research, Michio Kushi presents a ground-breaking dietary program that can be implemented safely and simply in the home at a fraction of the cost of usual meals and medical care. As the risk and incidence of cancer increases, The Cancer Prevention Diet continues to be essential reading for anyone seeking to maintain or regain optimum health through natural means.
Comments: Best to read as many reviews of this as possible. I did find it interesting that his wife and one of his daughters both died from cancer. I am not sure when and how that related to possibly Michio's plan. » 10/20/04
